"[...] For instance, I defended Professor Minsky on an M.I.T. mailing list after someone leaped to the conclusion that he was just guilty as Jeffrey Epstein. To my surprise, some thought my message defended Epstein. As I had stated previously, Epstein is a serial rapist, and rapists should be punished. I wish for his victims and those harmed by him to receive justice."

"False accusations -- real or imaginary, against me or against others -- especially anger me. I knew Minsky only distantly, but seeing him unjustly accused made me spring to his defense. I would have done it for anyone. Police brutality makes me angry, but when the cops lie about their victims afterwards, that false accusation is the ultimate outrage for me. I condemn racism and sexism, including their systemic forms [...]."

"I've learned something from this about how to be kind to people who have been hurt. In the future, that will help me be kind to people in other situations, which is what I hope to do."

So a question for the people removing their stickers and whatnot, is your goal to actually educate & change people, bring about a more just society etc. or is it just about being able to feel morally superior?

I also expect 0 people who claimed defended Epstein to apologize, but oh well.

@MatejLach This public acknowledgement and apology does make me happy.

FSF should still judge to what degree they want him to be public figure at this time (which is his specialty), but I see no reason he couldn't work his way back to moral redemption.

@MatejLach Of course I was never victimized by him, but coming forward like this should at least be commended as a step in the right direction.

@MatejLach they want any excuse to remove #RMS from the #FSF.

I saw a comment of someone about "gnu tools" saying that the point wasn't RMS or the FSF, the point was having a new #GPL license more like the BSD or MIT. Maybe their goal is to convert #freesoftware in #proprietarysoftware.

In the end, with this kind of actions they show us who they really are, they are #egotistical people who only want money and power, they don't care love and other people.

@r_libre

> the point was having a new license more like the BSD or MIT.

So nothing like having a GPL license, I think you're right. The goal seems to be to erase the difference between open source and free software and make everything corporate dump over the wall ware.

@r_libre @MatejLach

I'm gonna need a source on that because I've not heard anyone ever say anything like that.

I can say pretty confidently that this is not what the people who want RMS and the FSF Board to resign. I can certainly say that for myself anyways.

@lionirdeadman @MatejLach

I suggest you to search about it, if you are one of the signers of the anti-stallman letter you probably didn't search for all the related information at first, so it is common to be a victim of misinformation.

To begin your search:

lbry.tv/@Lunduke:e/StallmanLet

lbry.tv/@DistroTube:2/mob-ment

Maybe you will notice after checking the videos but just in case:

Bryan and Derek are NOT supporters of RMS.

@r_libre @MatejLach

I will request it again. Give me a source.

Lunduke provides no information of value about RMS and he lies about this being a mob and the open letter being closed because they didn't want delete requests.

DT in 20seconds already lied many times. The letter is not about Open Source, the letter does not threaten the movement, this is not a mob.

You are wasting my time.

@r_libre @MatejLach
There's plenty of people who are active #GPL proponents and support #FSFE, Convervancy, EFF and other FLOSS advocacy organization instead of FSF because of RMS public behavior.

@lionirdeadman @MatejLach

> "I can say pretty confidently that this is not what the people who want RMS and the FSF Board to resign."

I suggests you that don't talk in the name of all the members of a movement or a mob.

Just talk for you.

In any social movement always are people with bad intentions, even if you believe that other are doing the right thing you can never know if they are just pretending.

@r_libre @MatejLach

Generalizations should be understood as meaning "most". I'll repeat I've not seen people suggest that they should switch to a permissive. I've talked to plenty people about this issue and none of them have said something along those lines.

I don't believe I'm talking for people though, simply that it's my belief that the people who want the FSF board to resign don't want that.

I don't assume bad faith nor believe in conspiracies.

@federico3 @MatejLach

> "There's plenty of people who are active #GPL proponents and support #FSFE, Convervancy, EFF and other FLOSS advocacy orgs instead of FSF because of RMS public behavior."

The fight is always the same, misinformation and division.

Behind anti-stallman movement are corporations, just check your anti-stallman letter, it is full of unethical corporations.

By the way, why they deleted the issue about the GPL?
