Look at the picture the 'newspaper of record'' NYT choose to include in their BS story accusing #JetBrains, (one of the most customer-oriented companies btw) of somehow being complicit in the #SolarWinds hack.
Yep, just casually throw the Russian flag in there because why not? The original headline even referenced JB being a Russian company, capitalizing on the fact that in the heads of many Americans, Russian == up to no good.
Of course the fact that the hackers used American made browsers executing on American designed CPUs apparently doesn't make any of these companies complicit.
I used to stay silent on bs like this as I know appearing to defend anything Russian/Chinese apparently means you endorse everything each country ever did, (funny how that doesn't apply to the US tho).
I'll now start calling out bs like this more regularly. It needs to be called out for the xenophobic bs that it is.
@MatejLach It's hard to be heard when you're both afraid of chinese and russian intervention, and seeing the exact same type of garbage from the US - but every time you say that the US companies are a problem, you're being "too paranoid" or "wearing a tinfoil hat" and "it's not that bad."
I'll get called for xenophobia for saying I don't trust Tencent (and softbank) but "Oh no, you can't say that about google, you have to use Gmail, it's required! also Chrome is the best browser because google is good, and Apple and Microsoft are our friends." By the same folks.
I'm TRYING to be level here, I don't trust ANY of them, based on their _actions._
As for the IDE stuff: I am allergic to Java, it's an Oracle thing, and I don't trust them. So I don't care for those tools. But I know folks who use them and they make good things, and I don't have a problem with that company - haven't seen any reason to feel they're a problem.
But go ahead and tell me how Julian Assange is not a 'real' journalist again because he doesn't work for a 'real' journalistic org like the NYT.
