Guess what? So is Discord!
Hacker News' voting system encourages controversial comments (a lot more people can upvote than downvote), so rationality only goes so far on there.

@MatejLach Mentioning Discord is like saying they can meet in McDonalds. Matrix as an alternative at least lets you own your own data.
@neil I purposely mentioned Discord precisely BECAUSE it doesn't let you own your data and is generally a sub-par platform if you care about your users or any kind of privacy.
My point was that communities can technically "meet" practically anywhere. Saying that churches should be tax exempt because they're somehow special in their ability for communities to meet there is ridiculous.
